1. What is HCT?
Founded in 1988, the Higher Colleges of Technology
address the unique educational requirements of a young,
yet rapidly developing country, the UAE. With 13 campuses
throughout the country, they have expanded rapidly while
consistently maintaining a commitment to excellence
in teaching and learning that has made HCT a leader
in education and training.
The academic caliber of the
teaching staff –
professional educators who are at the forefront of their
subject areas – and the innovative, project-driven
and student-based curriculum have raised standards

those graduating and finding satisfying employment

The HCT stays abreast of new developments in technologies

2. What is CERT?
The Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training
is an independent organization, originally set up as
the commercial arm of the Higher Colleges of Technology
of the United Arab Emirates in 1996. Today, through
its two technology parks, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it
is the interface through which local and regional communities
can access the specialized expertise, resources knowledge
and technological capabilities of our partners and associates,
resulting in effective technology transfer and innovative
solutions and capability building.
3. What is MIT?
MIT is the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology. MIT is one of the world’s top
3 universities especially in the areas of educating
students in science, technology,
that will best serve the nation and the world in the
21st century.
4. What is the MIT Entrepreneurship Centre?
The MIT Entrepreneurship Centre is an organization
under the Sloan School of Management that has been set
up to provide content, context, and contacts that enable
entrepreneurs and students to design and launch successful
new ventures based on innovative technologies.
5. What is Sloan/MIT Sloan/MIT Sloan School
of Management?
The MIT Sloan School of Management,
based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is one of the
world’s leading business
schools — conducting cutting-edge research and
providing management education to top students from
more than 60 countries. The School is part of MIT’s
rich intellectual tradition of education and research.
6. What is the relationship between MIT and
HCT?
Higher Colleges of Technology in the UAE and the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management
and the MIT Entrepreneurship Center have recently signed
an MOU, to engage in a series of events, leading to
the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Center in the
UAE.

8. Does the Conference Fee include the cost
of the hotel?
No, it does not include the
cost of the hotel. However, there are a limited
number of rooms available and we
may be able to help you facilitate room bookings if
required.
9. What time does the conference start?
The conference starts at 8:30am for registration.
10. Do I have to be there all day?
That would be your choice, however
the presentations are enlightening and we are sure
they will be of benefit
for you to attend.
11. Can I pay on the day of the conference?
Yes, you can register and pay
on the day, but we recommend that you register and
pay in advance to avoid any inconvenience.
12. Where will I get my badge?
Your badge will be ready for you at the registration
desk on the day of the conference. Please bring your
confirmation letter with your Confirmation number on
it to ensure a smooth entry into the conference hall.
13. Where will I get my conference pack?
Your conference pack can be picked up once you collect
your badge from the registration desk.
14. Will His Excellency
Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan be there?
His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan
Mabarak Al Nahayan will be delivering the keynote
on the first day
15. Will there be security?
Yes, there will be security.
16. What type of security?
Police and security guards will be around on the day.
It is recommended you do not carry any sharp objects
or weapons to the conference.
17. Will I be able
to meet all the speakers?
There will be networking opportunities during lunch
and breaks.
18. Can I register
over the phone?
As we require your signature
on the registration form, this method of registration
is not recommended. You
can apply online or fax/email the registration form.
